School

Joy is doing well in school. The OT that services her school says she is working hard. Her teacher says she is working so hard and making great transitions.
One reason I chose this middle school is their community based instruction. Once a week she goes to Kroger. The night before for her homework we choose one item (it has to be on the assigned row) and we print a picture of it. Then we takes her paper and her money and goes to the store. She has to find the item and purchase it herself. She is doing great with this!

A cute picture of Joy after school. She is so cute! She runs to the bus in the morning, yelling her bus drivers name. And runs to me afterwards yelling Mama!  Love it!

So funny: this girl has opinions about her bra. She knows she has to wear it, so she does. But once school’s over, it’s off.

This I knew, but the other morning the bus driver handed me a training bra and said, “Is this Joy’s?”  Sure enough! She had taken it off on the bus!

New school year

Joy has started sixth grade.  That is a new school with new teacher and aids, and all new classmates. The transition has not gone as smoothly as I would have liked. She misses her old teacher and aid. She misses her friends. I think she misses being little and having time to play at recess. She misses playing Minecraft with the guys in their free time.  Saturday we have invited one of her friends to come over to play Minecraft! She is thrilled!!
