Joy’s Week

Since she watching sister practicing all the time, she has to try too!!

Picking out a cake for brother’s birthday.

At Texas Children’s for another hearing test.  No improvement and she is not a candidate for hearing aids.  They did note that one of her tubes is clogged, so we’ll head into ENT.

Sending funny selfies to Becca at college.

Dressing up is so fun!

Grandma and Grandpa have been here visiting!

Showing Bella all of her schoolwork.

Except Ye Become As Little Children…

Joy can be frustrating with her stubbornness, but she teaches me so much!

Tonight we had tacos for dinner and then cake for dessert since it’s big brother’s birthday.

Joy chose not to eat dinner.  We explained several times during dinner that if she didn’t eat, she couldn’t have cake.  When she threw her dinner on the floor, we reiterated that she had chosen to not have any cake because she had chosen not to eat her dinner.  She accepted that and left the table.

Fast forward two hours.  I was cleaning up the kitchen and Joy came in and asked me, “Cake?”  No, Joy.  Remember you chose not to eat your dinner, so you chose not to have any cake.  Maybe tomorrow.

“OK.” she replied and put her head down.  Then she reached up, got a green apple and went happily on her way.

I’m not that easily re-directed when I want something.  When I ask my Heavenly Father for something and there are prerequisites that I’m not willing to fill or the answer is simply No, I’m not good at simply changing my focus.  I’m grateful for the reminders that Heavenly Father gives me.  I love that Joy teaches me.

Joy’s Week

Poor girl has been sick!  When active, crazy Joy sleeps during the day, it’s bad.

During her four days out of school, she was going a little stir crazy.  We painted nails.  She wanted to play the Wii.  Friday she was able to go back to school.

Sweet Joy!                              She likes to dress herself and more often than not she puts on her clothes backwards.  Wearing her jeans backwards was a new one though!

All dressed up for the cold!     Playing with her feet – crazy girl!

Joy loves holidays!  Love how she says “Merry Missmas!” and at the end when I tell her Merry Christmas, she answers, “Trick or Treat?”

Joy’s Week

Joy’s scribbles – if you look closely there are some letters emerging!!  She is so proud of herself.  I thought this was such a cute seasons chart with Joy’s hand.  She is so adorable when she sleeps!

These two love to play ball, rolling and taking it from each other.  LOVE seeing them being friends!

I hemmed Joy’s pants.  With Down syndrome comes a long torso, but shorter arms and legs.  As Joy would say, “I did it!”  I watched a YouTube on it, and then hemmed her pants for school.  Only about a million more shirts and pants to go!

These two putting on a concert for us!  Joy loves music!

It was a sick week.  We passed around a bug.  She is so cute!

Our Joy is looking so grown up and so tall lately!  Jumping because she is always so excited!

Kris and Zachary stopped by.  He really is such a cute little guy!  Joy was fascinated by him and kept signing and saying “baby!”

All dressed up for sisters’ piano recital.  Note to self:  Joy isn’t ready yet for piano recitals.  Sitting quietly for that long – no way!  Oh well, it was worth a try!  At least she looked cute.
